Christina Amalie Mattei (otherwise known RYAT) is a music producer, multi-instrumentalist, multi-media artist and singer-songwriter based out of Los Angeles. Ever evolving in music and art, Christina comes from the land of meditative avant Jazz improvisations, Classical composition, Indi rock, Electronic beat making, and Interactive multi-medium performance.
When RYAT is not in performance mode, Christina is composing and producing for other artist, film, dance, immersive installation performance and teaching production and composition. Christina has guest appeared, improvising with top jazz musicians, including Taylor McFerrin, Mark Guiliana and Terrace Martin.
Under RYAT, Christina’s career has led her to sharing musical stages with artists like Thom Yorke, Questlove, Amon Tobin, and Flaming Lips and has toured extensively across the world with her multimedia shows. She released music mostly independently, but with one album on Brainfeeder in 2012.
Being a pioneer with the software Ableton Live since 2006, Christina currently teaches Producing for Berklee School of Music Online. She has taught master classes in Ableton Live at establishments like University of California, Kutztown University, Beats By Girls, Apogee Studio, Ableton Live, Leeway Foundation and University of the Arts. Artist in residencies include UCLA CAP, Fringe Arts Center Philadelphia, PIFA Festival, Fidget Space and New York Parks Commission for Summer Stage.
In 2015, RYAT debuted a Multi Media feminist Interactive Music Performance in Central Park titled “ALTMODE.” The piece was a reaction to sexism in the music and entertainment industries. Prior “me too” movement, this piece was fully funded by fans, the art community and SummerStage Dance.
In 2016, Christina’s film score for, Tasting The Moon , won several awards, including Best Music Video at the 6th Annual Los Angeles International Underground Film Festival 2016 and Best Short at the 10th Annual Indie Fest USA International Film Festival 2016. Her composer debut was featured with a live Orchestra, presented by the prestigious Echo Society, a collective top composers in Los Angeles.
In 2018, Christina is mostly producing records, developing new artist, and writing for TV. She is also an adjunct professor for Producing and Songwriting at Berklee School of Music Online.
